KS1 Homework

Written homework in year one is optional. We have based our written homework tasks on the theme of the seaside, in order to encourage children to explore our topic a little further at home. You will find a list homework tasks below. The children will also be given a list of spellings to learn.

Children in year two will be given a piece of maths homework every Friday. This will usually be based on our current learning. Children will be expected to complete the homework by the following Wednesday. Year two children will also be given spellings to learn. We will give the new words out on a Friday and they will be tested the following Friday.

As well as written homework, we encourage you to read with your child at least three times a week. Reading at home is an extremely important part of their development, and will support them in many other areas of learning.

KS1 Spelling Words

You will find a list of words below that the children are expected to be able to spell by the end of the year. Many of these words do not follow regular spelling patterns, therefore the children will need to memorise the spelling. The children will learn how to spell these words during their phonics lessons.
