School Meals

Healthy and fresh

Our lunch break is from 12.00 noon to 1.00pm. The majority of children stay at school and have either a school lunch or a packed lunch, which they bring from home in a named lunch box (Children may go home for lunch — however, this is rare).

The school lunches are prepared in our own kitchen. Children choose each course from the day’s selection. Fresh fruit and salad are always available in addition to vegetables served with freshly prepared main meals. Our cook is also involved in presentations and assemblies during the year to encourage healthy eating.

Our menu

School Meals Winter Menu 2014 – 2015

Food with Thought have updated their Winter Menu as so many schools in the area were not happy with the meals.  We hope your children will like the new menu better.

School meals are free for children in the Infants.

Payments for school meals for Junior children (£2.10 per meal) are made by cash or cheque made payable to ‘OCC Trinity School’ in advance. We send out a school meals form via Parentmail towards the end of each half term with request for payment in advance for the following term. A deadline date for returning forms and making payment is always given.  Should this date be missed you will have to provide a packed lunch for your child for that term.

Any meals paid for, but not taken due to absence of 3 consecutive days or more, are credited. Your child may be entitled to free school meals if you are receiving Child Tax Benefit, Income Support or Job Seekers Allowance. Please enquire at the School Office where your enquiry will be dealt with confidentially.

If your child has any special dietary needs please do let us know in writing and we can make sure the kitchen staff are aware. Please note that we do not use nuts in any of our meals.

Cooked meals and packed lunches are eaten in the school hall, except during very good weather in the Summer Term, when packed lunches are eaten outdoors. The children are supervised at all times.

How you can Help Out

We are always looking for help with supervision during the lunch hour.

We have both paid supervisors and parent volunteers. Paid  supervisors do a mixture of roles – helping in the dinner hall  or supervising Infants or Juniors on the field and paddock or on the playgrounds dependant on weather.  On wet days they are allocated a classroom area to watch over.  With all roles there is the chance to interact with the children and ensure they have a safe and happy play time.

If you are interested in volunteering please contact the school office.  Everyone who helps at lunchtime should have a DBS check and this is arranged by the School Business Manager.
