TRINITY WEEKLY BULLETIN - Week commencing 23rd February 2026

Whole School Updates

Parent support for SATs

Each year we reach out to our parent community and ask for your help with supporting some of our pupils who require extra help during their SATs. We do not have enough members of staff to be able to offer one-to-one support for the number of pupils who require help, whether that be acting as a scribe, a reader, or just supervising them while they take a break.

We would be very grateful for help during the SATs mocks week (16th - 19th March) and for the actual SATs week (11th - 14th May). Ideally, if you could offer to support for the same specific time slot both weeks, then we could partner you up with a child so they have consistency.

Timings for both weeks (mocks and SATs):

  • Monday and Wednesday - 9:00am - 12:30pm
  • Tuesday and Thursday - 9:00am - 10:30am

For any parents who are able to volunteer, we will provide training about how you can support the pupil you are working with and the guidance provided by the DfE. If you are able to help with this, please contact Miss Hart directly by emailing chart@trinityprimaryschool.org. We'd be very grateful for any parent support.

World Book Day and Photography Competition - 5th March

Dress up: We invite all children (and staff) to dress up in book-inspired costumes on World Book Day. However, we appreciate the time and effort that goes into preparing these, so there is absolutely no expectation to do so.

Extreme Reading Competition 2026: New this year: your child can enter not just with a photo of themselves reading in an unusual place, but also showing other ways they enjoy reading - audiobooks, comics, magazines, or sharing a story.  Send your entries in to extremereading@trinityprimaryschool.org by Tuesday 3rd March.

We're really looking forward to a fantastic World Book Day 2026!

Norman Avenue Gate open again

You may have noticed that we have had the large gates near our Early Years classrooms (top of Norman Avenue) fixed, so we are once again able to open these gates in the morning. We will continue to have a member of staff on the main gates (Vicarage Road) and a member of staff welcoming our youngest pupils into Early Years, but it is parents' responsibility to make sure their child makes it safely onto the school playground each morning, excluding Year 6 pupils who walk to school, especially if opting to use the gates near Norman Avenue.

Henley Youth Festival

Half-term is a great opportunity to get involved in Henley Youth Festival. New for this year, there's the opportunity to try Fencing (Years 6), enter a Mixed Netball Tournament with friends (Years 4-8) and The Creative Brick Challenge (Years 4-11). There's also the chance to get up and close to animals at the Farmyard Fun Finale on 14 March.

Returning for 2026 after a few years away are the Photo competition (photos of your pets doing amazing things) and a chess tournament (Years 4-11). All the favourites are back - art, writing, film and film competitions as well as performing art shows at The Kenton.  You can drop off your art at school. All the information and online entry forms are available at www.hyf.org.uk. The deadline for entries is 24 February 2026. See flyer at the bottom of this Bulletin for more details.

Keeping Kids Safe Online

The Department for Education have asked that we share this website with our families:

Nits

Headlice have been spotted in school, so please use the half-term break to check (and treat) your child's hair. Nits affect both boys and girls and sadly it's not possible to get rid of them with only one treatment. Helpful information about treatment can be found by CLICKING HERE.

Remember to book lunches

An email has been sent giving details of how to book lunches for next term.  Please remember to do this before your child returns to school.

Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) for Easter Holidays for children in receipt of Free School Meals

If your child/children receive benefits-related free school meals (FSM) and are in Reception to Year 11, they can attend up to 4 sessions of free activities over the Easter holidays.  A nutritious meal is provided each day, so you do not need to provide a packed lunch, unless you choose to.

For more details, please visit our Frequently Asked Questions section of the website and scroll to the bottom.

Twiggy Wednesdays

Following on from Mrs Leppard's email on 11th February, we plan to continue Twiggy Wednesdays after half term, subject to having parent volunteers.

Please complete the Google form below if you are able to volunteer as the sessions can only run if we have your help. Volunteers are required to cover the full session 1:00-3:00pm (1:00-1.45pm Jeffers, 2:00-2.45pm Bryon). Thank you in advance - the children really do love these sessions.

Developing Early Reading drop in session - 24th February

On Tuesday 24th February Mrs Ashworth (Jeffers class teacher) and Miss Rolfe (Assistant Head and Year 1 & 2 class teacher) will be hosting a drop-in session for parents of children in Early Years and Key Stage 1 from 3:30pm. The purpose of this session is to give parents an opportunity to ask questions about how best to support their child at home with reading.

Key Stage 1 (Years 1 & 2)

Halt-term homework

Please continue to do Doodle Maths and Phonics Play over half-term, as this will help consolidate the children's learning.

Spare clothes

Apologies for asking again, but we go through so many spare clothes, so if you are having a clear out over half-term, please pass any unwanted trousers to your class teacher or the office.

Lower Key Stage 2 (Years 3 & 4)

Year 4 Play - 19th March

We have made a great start to rehearsing our Year 4 play, which we will be performing to parents and carers on Thursday 19th March. Please use half-term to practice lines and learn the songs. This will really help rehearsals when we come back to school.

Workshop

Pupils in LKS2 will be taking part in a Poetry workshop on Thursday 26th February, thanks to Henley Youth Festival. A number of pupils will also be invited to perform a collaborative poem at the Kenton Theatre on Wednesday 11th March, so look out for details on that after half-term.

Mayor of Henley walk

The Bronze Mayor of Henley walk was scheduled to take place on Wednesday 18th March. However, due to the LKS2 taking place the day after, we have decided to re-schedule the walk as the children will be taking part in the dress rehearsal. Please keep an eye out for the revised date in a future Bulletin.

Daily Doodle = Maths Success!
Regular practice is key! Spending a little time on Doodle Maths every day helps children build confidence, strengthen skills, and make progress in maths. Please ensure your child is logging on regularly.

Thank you

We are very grateful to the parents who gave up their time to walk our Year 4 pupils to Gillotts this term for swimming. Thank you.

Upper Key Stage 2 (Years 5 & 6)

Ufton Court trip (Years 5 & 6)

By way of a reminder, our trip to Ufton Court is on the first day back after the holiday - Monday 23rd February. Please refer to the information contained in the email dated 2nd February for details about what your child needs to wear and bring with them. We will be departing from school promptly at 09:15. It is vital that we have both consent and payment for your child in advance.

Year 5 T1 Rugby tournament (Year 5)

Following on from the email sent on 11th February, if you are yet to give consent for your child to take part in the T1 rugby tournament on Thursday 26th February, please CLICK HERE before Monday 23rd February. If you are able to help walk the children there or back please indicate on the Google Form.

SATs preparation (Year 6)

Please refer to the email sent on 12th February regarding preparing Year 6 pupils for SATS and expectations around homework. If you have any queries please contact rundell@trinityprimaryschool.org or zephaniah@trinityprimaryschool.org and Mrs Aiken or Miss Galton will be happy to help you.

Photographs and Cheerios

Looking ahead to our new topic, ‘Go with the Flow’, after half term, please could you send in photocopies of photographs showing your child at different stages of their life. It would be wonderful to include family members too - parents, grandparents and siblings. If you are unable to make photocopies at home, please send the photos into school and we will copy them for you.

As part of this topic, we will also be carrying out a range of investigations and experiments. Each class will need:

  • 7 x 1 litre plastic bottles
  • 2 full boxes of Cheerios
  • 7 clean jam jars

If you have any spare items at home that you would be happy to donate, we would greatly appreciate them.

Hoodies

Our Year 6 pupils are welcome to wear their Leavers hoodies on their designated PE days. Please note: normal uniform should be worn on non-PE days and school trips.
