TRINITY WEEKLY BULLETIN - Week commencing 29th September 2025

Whole School Updates

Evacuating the school in case of fire / emergency

This is a plea to all parents to please let the office and your child's teacher know if your child is going to be absent, before 8:40am each morning. If we need to evacuate the building, we need to know which children are onsite. Please email office.3254@trinity.oxon.sch.uk and your class teacher (for example dahl@trinityprimaryschool.org) stating your child's full name and reason for absence. Alternatively call 01491 575 887 and leave a voicemail.

Free school meals eligibility

Currently, all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 in state-funded schools in England are eligible for Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSMs). In addition, parents of children from any year (Reception to Year 6) on low incomes in receipt of certain benefits may be entitled to receive free school meals on that basis.

It is easy for us to check if you are eligible – all you need to do is give the school office your name, date of birth and national insurance number. (You may be asked to provide additional information in certain circumstances.)

For those who are confirmed as eligible, the school will also receive additional Pupil Premium funding to help support their child at school, so it is really worth applying for this if you are eligible, even if your child is in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2. Please contact us at office.3254@trinity.oxon.sch.uk in complete confidence if you would like us to check your eligibility.

Flu Consent - Action Required

Please look out for the email 'Flu Consent - Action Required' and complete the electronic link to confirm whether your child will or will not have the flu vaccine at school on 15th October. Children can catch and spread flu easily, so vaccinating them also protects others who are vulnerable. Please CLICK HERE for the GOV.UK overview of why they believe it is important for children to receive the flu vaccine.

School Council

We are delighted to announce this year's School Councellors. Each child had the chance to write a manifesto, votes were taken and here are the winners:

  • Murphy (Year 1) - Jake and Elodie
  • Rosen (Years 1&2) - Zeb and Jessica
  • Dahl (Year 2) - Juno and Sammy
  • Cowell (Year 3) - Hugo and Lucy
  • Coelho (Years 3&4) - Eleneave and Clara
  • Pilkey (Year 4) - Lillietta and Finley
  • Palmer (Year 5) - Fred and Sid
  • Zephaniah (Years 5&6) - Olivia and Maria
  • Rundell (Year 6) - Isla and Max

Trinity Reading Journey

The Trinity Reading Challenge is now in its third year. Our aim has always been to encourage children to read widely, exploring a range of genres and authors through a carefully curated list of recommended books. This year, we’re making two key changes to enhance the experience:

  1. Name change: Challenge → Journey
We are now calling it the Trinity Reading Journey. This change reflects our goal for children to enjoy reading as an experience, rather than seeing it as a race to complete.

  2. Celebrating milestones
Key milestones in the Reading Journey will be recognised during our half-termly assemblies. This allows children to enjoy and celebrate their progress, reinforcing that reading is something to relish, not rush.

We hope these changes will continue to inspire a love of reading, helping children discover new stories and authors along the way.

Thank you for supporting our Reading Journey!
A huge thank you to everyone who has kindly donated books from our wishlists via LoveReading4Kids. We are delighted to share that 18 books have already been donated! Because these purchases were made through our wishlists, we have also raised over £45, which will be invested straight back into even more books for our school.

Your support makes such a difference - keeping our Reading Journey shelves well stocked helps to inspire and engage our children with a wide variety of stories. If you are able, please do continue to support us by donating a book. Every contribution helps nurture a love of reading across our school community.  The links to the wishlists can be found below:

Harvest

Thank you for the food donations that have been brought into school so far. It's not too late to donate non-perishable food items to NOMAD. Children can bring food donation in until Wednesday.

We hope many parents and carers will join us at Holy Trinity Church on Thursday at 10:30am for our Harvest Festival Service.

Informing us of absence

For Year 6 pupils who have the option to walk to school unaccompanied by an adult, it is especially important that we know if they are going to be absent before 8:40am each day. This avoids unnecessary worry that something has happened to the child en route to school. Please let your child's teacher and the office know as soon as possible and definitely before 8:40am each morning. Thank you.

Year 6 Medication

If your child requires medication on the upcoming Residential, please make sure you have completed the Medical Form by Wednesday 1st October. All medication must be clearly labelled with your child’s name and brought into school by Wednesday 1st October. We will not be taking any of the medication currently held within school, so this should be completely separate from that. You are required to complete a separate form for every medication we are required to administer.
