Our Year 6 pupils travelled to Oxford's Rewley Road Fire Station to attend the Junior Citizen workshop. Across a number of different scenarios, the children learnt about various hazards and risks that they may encounter as they grow up and move to a more independent phase of their lives and education. The children all practised making a 999 emergency call, put each other into the recovery position and learnt how to respond to incidents at the beach, at the river, in a home, at a train station and on the road. Delivered by members of the Fire & Rescue and Police Services, we certainly learnt a lot of really important information and what we can do to stay safe and help others. A huge thank you to the parent volunteers who came with us.

Children came into school dressed as their favourite character from a book and many of our pupils took part in our Extreme Reading Challenge. The challenge was to create art inspired by our feathered friends and to see who could draw or paint the best bird. Eliot in Year 5 was the winner of the KS2 entries. Unfortunately we didn't win the KS1 competition, but the number of entries was phenomenal and Miss Galton really enjoyed seeing so many fantastic pieces of creativity. He shared his love of poetry with the whole school, exploring the power of words through similes and metaphors. Our younger pupils listened enthusiastically as James shared his poems and they then took part in a workshop where they helped create a ‘happy poem’, before writing their own versions. Older pupils wrote thoughtful poems about a special adult in their lives, and some proudly shared their work in assembly, captivating the audience with their creativity and confidence.

Junior Choir sang beautifully and did Trinity proud. It was so fantastic to see all the children standing on that stage (some for the first time) and giving their all.

Representatives from each Key Stage 2 class visited the Greener Henley Environmental Fair at Henley College. Students from local secondary and sixth form colleges exhibited and inspired pupils of local primary schools about how we affect our environment. Exhibitors challenged us to reconsider how we live our lives and how we can change our ways. On every stall we visited, we thought 'how can we bring this back to Trinity?'

The children enjoyed a wonderful day of discovery and learning about nature and sustainability. They explored exciting stalls filled with plants, wildlife displays, and creative eco-friendly crafts. Many children were fascinated by the buzzing bee exhibits and learnt how important pollinators are for our planet. They also discovered ways to help the environment, such as recycling, saving energy, and planting trees. Interactive games and demonstrations showed how small changes can make a big difference. The fair inspired everyone to care for nature, protect local wildlife, and build a greener, cleaner future together.

Our Environmental ambassadors were a real credit to the school and were keen to share their experience back at school. In year 3, Jake insisted on doing a show and tell to his classmates in year 3 with ALL of Mrs Williams' photos!

If your child was born between 1st September 2021 and 31st August 2022 inclusive and they are due to start in Reception in September 2026, then please remember to fill in an online application form with Oxfordshire County Council before 15th January 2026. Late applications are far less likely to secure a place at a preferred school, so it is important that you apply on time.

CLICK HERE for Oxfordshire County Council's School Place Admissions Portal

Key reminders:

Read the ‘Starting School’ guide online

Apply on time – late applications won’t receive an offer on National Offer Day (16 April 2026)

Update addresses – upload proof of address and inform current nursery/school (if there has been a change)

Include sibling details where relevant

List multiple preferences – up to four schools can be selected

Delayed Entry Applications

Some parents of children born between 1 April 2022 and 31 August 2022 may feel it is in their child’s best interests to delay starting Reception until the following school year (September 2027). In Oxfordshire, parents can request delayed entry by submitting a formal application, which will be considered by the relevant Admission Authority. It’s important they also submit an on-time application (by 15 January 2026) in case the delay request is not approved.

Full details are available on the Oxfordshire County Council website: www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/schools/apply-school-place/delay-reception-application

Well done and huge thanks to those who came along to represent our school. If you'd like to see photos, please visit our GALLERY page.

Just a reminder that Mrs Evans runs a lunchtime cross country club, which is open to pupils in Years 2-6, on Wednesdays and Fridays on the top field at Trinity. Children run a minimum of three laps to gain a house point, and whoever runs the most laps will get two house points. Trainers must be worn. Year 1 children will be able to join from January. Cross country lunch club is fun, sociable and a great way to train for the next football, hockey or netball match or tournament. It keeps you fit and boosts your mood for the afternoon learning. Come and give it a try.

Rosie Tong, an ex-Trinity pupil came to see us on Thursday 15th October to discuss her latest adventure which really is a tremendous challenge. In December, Rosie and two of her friends will be rowing 3,000 miles (equivalent to 48,000 football pitches) across the Atlantic Ocean from San Sebastian De La Gomera to Nelson's Dockyard in Antigua. Our children were very interested to hear about the challenges Rosie will face (meeting the wildlife, rowing day and night for approximately 50 days, rowing for two hours, resting for two hours and having very limited food/drink) and William in Year 6 gave us a great demonstration on the rowing machine saying he could feel his legs and arms aching after only a minute, and he thought it would be really tough for Rosie.

If you would like to donate, please do so on the following fundraising page: https://www.givewheel.com/fundraising/7889/row-with-the-flow-worlds-toughest-row-atlantic-202/

We wish Rosie and her friends the very best of luck in her future challenge.

SIAMS - the Statutory Inspection for Anglican and Methodist Schools - takes place every five years (our recent inspection being delayed due to Covid) because the Church has a legal obligation to inspect and report on religious education, collective worship and pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. Our recent inspection report highlights a range of positive aspects about school life at Trinity and we are most proud of how the inspectors noted our outward-looking culture and high levels of inclusivity for the whole school community.

Thank you to those parents who spoke to the inspector as part of the process and shared the positive experiences their children have had at our school.

The inspector notes two main development points about the new RE curriculum which we launched in September 2024; we believe this to be a fair assessment of where we are at with embedding the new scheme and we will continue to develop this over the academic year. The SIAMS inspector looked at all elements of our school life - academic and wider provision and we were delighted to be awarded a Judgement 1 that we are living up to our foundation as a church school.

Thank you to PC Michael Dix from Thames Valley Police who came to talk to Years 5 and 6 about the law and how the police deal with reports of bullying, misuse of social media and anti-social behaviour. PC Dix also visited our Early Years children to talk to them as part of their Learning Means The World topic 'People who help us'.

PC Dix emailed Mrs Whittle after the visit to say ''What a great visit that was, I really enjoyed my time at your school. The pupils were fantastic, so well behaved and fully engaged with the talk. As you know I also visited Yr 1 and even the reception class which was something I’ve never done before but I think was a really important opportunity.''
