Please refer to email sent on 10/09/26 regarding the upcoming flu vaccinations on Wednesday 30th September. Please make sure to give your consent / refusal by Monday 28th September.

School Council

Henley Literary Festival

It's that time of year again and we are delighted to share that we have booked to take all of our pupils to the Henley Literary Festival in October. More details will follow next week, but here are the dates:

• Reception: I Want Everything by Sophy Henn — Tuesday 6th October 
• Years 1 and 2: Children of the Throne by Joseph Coelho — Thursday 8th October 
• Year 3: If I Met a Tiger by A.F. Harrold — Tuesday 6th October 
• Year 4: Attack of the Sea Dogs by M.G. Leonard — Wednesday 7th October 
• Years 5 and 6: 10 Children Who Changed the World by Joseph Paterson —  Monday 5th October 

Class WhatsApp groups

Each class tends to have a WhatsApp group, where parents can share information and class reps can contact parents when volunteers are needed. Please note: WhatsApp is not an official way for the school office to communicate with parents, although occasionally we will send something to reps if we think it will be helpful to parents. If you are not currently on your class WhatsApp group and would like to be, please speak to another parent in your child's class and ask them to share the link or rep's name with you.

Oxfordshire Libraries Short Story Competition

Pupils aged 7 - 11 are invited to write a short story of up to 1,000 words and enter it into the Oxfordshire Libraries Short Story Competition. The closing date is 15th November and further details can be found on the flyer at the bottom of this Bulletin.

FOTS AGM

FOTS look forward to welcoming parents into school on Tuesday evening from 7:00pm for their AGM. Come along and see what the new committtee have planned for this academic year and how the money you contribute to is being spent.

Star of Term

Following a review of our rewards system and feedback from last year, we are making a change this year. In line with our Behaviour Policy, the children are still rewarded throughout the week in various ways, such as teacher shout-outs, stickers and Headteacher awards, but we will no longer award Star of the Week awards. We will continue to award Star of the Half Term to pupils who really impress their teachers, whether that be through their attitude, academic work or embodiment of our school values (or hopefully all of the above).

100 Things

Last year we launched a new initiative called 100 Things to do before you leave Trinity. Based on its success, we are continuing to encourage children to participate with these optional, age-appropriate activities this year. Please visit our 100 THINGS page to look at the tasks that we suggest children aim to complete during their time in Primary School to encourage their development and wellbeing. Children in Early Years will be given their 100 Things book shortly.

Label belongings

Please can we ask that all items of clothing, including shoes, and water bottles and bags are labelled. This really assists both children and staff in returning belongings to the correct owner. Please make sure you are sending children with their book bag and water bottle every day.

PE kits

Just to clarify that children should wear their PE kit to school on their designated PE day. Please do not send children to school with PE kit in a separate bag - this was a one-off last week as they were having a Press photo taken.

• Bryon class - PE day is Monday
• Jeffers class - PE day is Tuesday

Booking lunches

Please speak to your child about what meals they would enjoy ahead of booking them in. Lunches can be booked up to October half-term and the menu runs on a three-week rotation. If you are struggling to book lunches, please contact the school office.

Class reps

We are still missing class reps for our two Early Years classes. Please can we encourage a couple of parents to put themselves forward to act as this link between the school and the parents. This is not a time-consuming role, but without it both parents and children will miss out.

Following on from the success of our 100 Things to do before you leave Trinity initiative last year, we are continuing to encourage children to take part with these optional, age-appropriate activities. Please visit our 100 THINGS page to look at the tasks that we suggest children aim to complete during their time in Primary School to encourage their development and wellbeing.

Reading Books for Year 1

We are currently in the process of assessing all the Year 1 children so that we can give them a book appropriate to their current phonics knowledge. While we are assessing them, we will offer a book for pleasure to share at home with a parent/carer. We anticipate that all Year 1 children will have a phonics reading book by next Friday at the latest.

Reading Volunteers

We are always very grateful for any parent / carer volunteers to support our children with reading in school. If you would like to volunteer your time to read with our pupils, please let us know via the class email addresses. Should you need to obtain a DBS, please also speak to the office team.

AFC Football Club

Unfortunately, AFC's after-school Football Club on Thursdays is very under subscribed, so unless they get a couple more children from Year 4 to sign up, this club may have to close. It costs £7 per session, so if you would like to sign up or give it a try, please email jack.woodley@afchenley.com

We are looking for parent volunteers who would be able to dedicate one hour a week to listening to children read in Key Stage 2 (Years 3 - 6).

Creating a strong culture of reading is something we place a high priority on, and we would love to give our children more opportunities to read regularly with an adult and share their love of books and reading with others.

If you are able to volunteer, please let Miss Newman know by email at cnewman@trinityprimaryschool.org, including the day and time that would be most suitable for you.

Many thanks in advance for your support. Your time would make a wonderful difference to our children and their reading journey.

Cowell class update

When Mrs Aiken initially returns to school it will be on a part-time basis and she will be in the classroom alongside Mrs Bradbury.  She is very much looking forward to seeing everyone and getting to know the children better. We are aware that Mrs Aiken wasn't in school for the 'meet-the-teacher' event, so she will arrange another opportunity later in the term.

Doodle logins for Zephaniah class

Doodle logins were sent home earlier in the week for Maths homework. Please encourage your child to log in regularly, ideally daily for around 5-10 minutes. When they first login they will need to complete their baseline assessment which will ensure they receive the correct level of work. Any problems, please let Miss Newman or Mr Clarke know. 

Forest School days

Apologies that the Forest School days weren't communicated in last week's Bulletin. To clarify, they are as follows:

• Palmer - Thursdays
• Zephaniah - Tuesdays
• Rundell - Mondays

Gillotts Open Events

Parents and pupils in Years 5 and 6 are invited to Gillotts Open Events:

• Open Evening on Thursday 24th September from 6:00pm - 8:15pm
• Open Morning on Tuesday 29th September from 9:00am - 10:45am
