Harvest Festival - Food bank donations and Church service

As a school community, we would love to make a donation to our local Food Bank, NOMAD. If you are able, please consider sending in non-perishable food and essential items with your children to their class. We will be collecting these donations until Wednesday 30th September, after which they will be taken to the church to be displayed as part of Trinity's Harvest Festival church service.

Parents and carers are invited to join us at Trinity Church at 10:30am on Thursday 1st October for our Harvest Festival service. 

Wraparound care: Breakfast Club

Breakfast club will revert to starting at 7:30am from Monday 28th September, to enable working parents to get the train to Twyford. Should you wish to book wraparound care, either before or after school, please visit:

2027 - 2028 Calendar

Term dates for next academic year (September 2027 - July 2028) can now be found on our website: TERM DATES.  Please take note of our term dates when booking holidays, to avoid penalty fines. 

Apologies that when this document was circulated by email on 23/09/26 some of the shading had been omitted. Just to clarify, 1st and 2nd September are school holiday days, 3rd and 6th September are inset days for staff, and pupils will return to school for the start of the Autumn term on 7th September 2027.

Henley Literary Festival

Please refer to the email sent 21/09/26 and remember to give permission for your child to attend by completing the Google Form below and making payment via the School Gateway app by Wednesday 30th September. If you are able to volunteer to accompany the children please indicate this on the form:

Healthy snacks

Please can we ask parents and carers to only send children to school with a healthy snack for mid-morning break. Please avoid sending crisps and chocolate bars, and obviously nothing with eggs or nuts.

5* Kitchen

We wanted to give a shout-out to Jill and the team in our school kitchen as they just received 100% in their latest Health and Safety Audit, to go along with their 5* Award from the Environmental Health Officer. This is the 8th year in a row, so well done to Jill and team.

Vacancies

We are currently recruiting for a Lunchtime Supervisor to oversee the children while they have their lunch and our wraparound care provider (In2Care) also have a vacancy for a Breakfast Club Manager. Details can be found on our VACANCIES page and also on the flyer at the bottom of this Bulletin.

SEND football sessions

Children in Year 1-6 with a SEND need are invited to take part in SEND football sessions, taking place at Rotherfield Utd FC every Saturday, starting on 26th September. Please see the link below and the flyer at the bottom of this Bulletin for booking details.

School uniform orders

If you need to order any items of school uniform from our official uniform provider, PMG, they offer free delivery to school once per half-term. The deadlines for this can be found on our UNIFORM page. For items to be delivered to school this half-term, orders have to be received by Thursday 1st October.

FOTS Social

• Block Printing Workshop - Wednesday 18th November

Trinity Mum, Katie Waggett, will be running a Block Printing Workshop for parents / carers on Wednesday 18th December, with all proceeds going to school. Great for a homemade Christmas present. Visit the FOTS website for booking details:

Henley Literary Festival

On Tuesday 6 October the Reception children will be attending the Henley Literary Festival at 10am at Phyllis Court. We will need 4 parent volunteers to help walk the children to this event. We will be leaving school at 9am and will be returning at midday. If you are available, please get in touch with Mrs Leppard via bryon@trinityprimaryschool.org

Questionnaire

Oxfordshire County Council would like to hear about your child’s move to Primary School. Please take a few minutes to fill in this short survey: Moving onto Primary School – parent/carer questionnaire

Your answers will help us understand what is going well and what could be better. We will use your feedback to help nurseries, preschools, childminders, and schools make the move to primary school easier for all children. Your answers will be anonymous. No one will know what you said.

We will share what we learn with early years providers and schools and use it to improve our transition guidance. This guidance aims to help early years settings and schools support children to settle into primary school smoothly and confidently.

Cowell class - Meet the Teacher

As Mrs Aiken wasn't here for the start of this term, she is offering parents / carers a second opportunity to come in to the classroom to meet her in person, should you wish. There is no obligation to attend, but you are welcome to come to the log cabin classroom on Friday 2nd October from 2:50pm - 3:10pm if you would like to. Mayor of Henley Presentation

Reminder that Year 4 parents and carers are invited to come along to school on Tuesday 29th September at 3:30pm to hear Miss Hart talk about the Mayor of Henley Award scheme.

Reading books

A gentle reminder that children need to have their reading books and reading records in school everyday as they may be asked to read with an adult. Thank you for your continued support.

Assessments next week

On Tuesday 29th, Wednesday 30th September and Thursday 1st October the children in Years 5 and 6 will be undertaking some assessments in reading and maths. The purpose of these assessments is to establish a baseline from which we can plan, adapt and develop our curriculum to best meet the needs of the children. 

As the assessments are taking place so early in the year, we will not be sharing individual results with the children. A baseline is simply a starting point, and we do not want the children to feel worried or concerned about their results. We are, of course, happy to share your child’s results with you at the parent consultations coming up in October.

Zephaniah reading books

Each Monday we have time in the afternoon to read for pleasure, so it's really important that reading books are brought into school every Monday. 

Year 5 Care Home Visits

As part of our Christian vision, “Who is my neighbour?”, Year 5 will be joining Rev Sam Brewster at Acacia Lodge Care Home for a number of their monthly services, held throughout the year. These visits provide a wonderful opportunity for our children to build relationships with members of our local community through worship, conversation and fellowship. They also encourage our pupils to shine in service to our community, while developing our core Christian values of Respect, Care and Courage.

The visits will be for the whole of Year 5, with every child having the opportunity to visit the care home at some point during the year. We have five visits planned, so the children will attend in smaller groups. 

Our first visit will take place on Tuesday 6th October. An email and permission form will be sent next week for the first group of children.
