Spring Term 2026

In our new topic we have been learning about Africa. We have been learning about the different environments you might find in Africa and also The Big Five! We presented our information to the class in the form of a documentary. The children really enjoyed writing their scripts, collating the information and presenting it to the class. We have also been trying to make the most of the sunshine and have been enjoying taking our class novel outside!

Cowell class had a wonderful world book day. We learnt all about Roald Dahl and celebrated some of his most loved stories. We made potions inspired by George’s Marvellous Medicine and Dream Jars inspired by the BFG. We even had a go at writing our own potions! It was lovely to see such enthusiasm for stories and the characters in them. 

  

Autumn Term 2025

We have been learning about Hinduism and finished off our topic by celebrating Diwali today.  In assembly, we read a story about a child celebrating Diwali and then we acted out the Rama and Sita story in RE.  Here are our door wreaths and we started on our rangoli patterns.  Happy Diwali.

  

As part of our Rockie Findosaur, we went on a rock walk to see what stones are in our local area and to see local building materials.  We loved the flint walls located all around Henley.  

  

In preparation for celebrating Diwali, we have been making diya lamps. We will find out about Rama and Sita returning home with lights guiding them home.

  

  

We had a Science investigation to work out who wrote the note.  There were 3 different black pens but one of the pen's ink did not run when immersed in water.  3 teachers were said to be in the frame and we had to work out who had used which pen.

In our topic, 'hot off the press' we have been learning about how music is written down today and how it was written down in the past. We made our own clay tiles with symbols for our own music like the Ancient Greeks used to do.
